How did you turn into a management consultant?

How did you turn into a management consultant?

I started my career as a nurse working in a ward. Every day, while working on business improvement and incident analysis, I became interested in working on organizational management and hospital management from a higher level perspective. I joined the company in 2018 because I wanted to work while looking at not only hospitals but also the entire medical industry.

One day

Since joining the company, I have been promoting a couple of consulting projects at all times, and at the same time, participating in new project proposals.

The state of my day is as follows.

  • Waking up at 7: breakfast while checking email
  • 10: 00-12: 00: Visits to hospital clients, discusses monthly management status with executives
  • 12:00 to 13:30: Lunch and email check at the cafe while moving to the next destination
  • 13: 30-14: 30: Visiting corporate clients, discussing strategies with new business staff
  • From 15:00 to 16:30: Interview with hospital client staff
  • 16: 30-17: 30: Return to home
  • 17: 30-19: 00: Dinner, break
  • 19:00 to 20:00: Make notes for staff interviews with hospital clients
  • 20: 00-21: 00: Prepare to visit corporate clients tomorrow
  • From 22:00: Relax, go to bed

Generally, a project is promoted by three to four members. There are opportunities to participate in hospital and company projects, and there are various themes from management improvement to new business development. In addition, there are many opportunities to get involved with hospital staff in hospital projects, and I feel that my experience as a nurse has been utilized.

One of the attractions is that there is a high degree of freedom in working hours and places. I sometimes work late before the final report of the project, but as a result, getting a good evaluation of the proposal from the client can lead to motivation. When the project is over, I take a vacation and work while sharpening it.

Message to prospective employees

We have members from various backgrounds. Some members have been consultants for many years, some are from companies, some are from hospitals. Although the background is different, the desire to contribute to better medical care through the work of management consultants is the same. I hope that we can work together with those who have something we really want to achieve.
